NordVPN vs Private Internet Access – The Better Choice for You in 2019

NordVPN and PIA are the two very famous VPN services with good features and user friendly pricing.  They both are well capable of offering a user with complete anonymity and privacy. However they both differ with each other in many different areas. To find out the better VPN service out of these two, we performed a side by side comparison of the features, offers and service quality.
In this post, we have compared both of the providers from 3 to 4 perspectives. However, you can find for a comparison between NordVPN vs PIA here in detail.

Security Protocols

The security features offered by both services are almost same. Either of these two offer a state-of-the-art encryption model. Also both of them do not keep user logs which is a good plus. Moreover, they both have OpenVPN protocol for the users; remember that OpenVPN is key to protect your internet connection with advanced level of security.

Base Location

As far as origin country is concerned, the location of the company, NordVPN has an upper hand. As the provider is located in Panama, NordVPN doesn’t have to follow any privacy laws. Panama is one of the few countries where there are no privacy or data retention laws exist. This gives NordVPN clearly an advantage.

On the other hand, Private Internet Access is based in USA where there are strict internet and privacy laws. However, since the provider doesn’t keep user logs, the authorities wouldn’t be questioning about the logs. If a US governmental authority inquires the provider for any kind of user logs, they won’t have any logs or data to provide them with. Still, a VPN based outside US or other Five, Nine or Fourteen Eye countries is obviously better for security and privacy.

Extra Features

The key difference between NordVPN vs PIA is the provision of features offered by the both. Both of these services almost all of the basic features such as DNS Leak Protection, as well as an advanced Kill Switch. However, we found that NordVPN goes extra miles by offering advanced level of functions and features as compared to PIA.
They both also have another similar feature. PIA and NordVPN both are surprisingly the two that offer protection from malware and unwanted ads. This is a great feature as it allows you to surf the internet without have to worry for malware, viruses and similar threats.

PIA is the first in the market to introduce this feature. PIA named this feature “PIA MACE”. Later on NordVPN also included this feature into their package and introduced CyberSec tool which does the same job.

Speed

When it comes to speed, both providers offer equally good speeds. However, NordVPN wins this speed content from PIA. When we tested the speed of NordVPN, we found that we only lost 5% speed of our internet connection. Whereas when we connected to PIA, we lost 11% speed. NordVPN comes conquering here not only in speeds but also high level of encryption. It must be noted that higher encryption slows down the speed of VPN connection. However, NordVPN amazingly happens to manage it. Although, the difference was not very big, but still it is obvious and clear.
